Make Your Own Pollen Patties

While you can buy premade pollen patties from any beekeeping supply store, this article will share how to make your own out of just a few ingredients.
Ingredients:
1 quart 1:1 sugar syrup
7 cups Dry Pollen Substitute such as Ultra Bee
1 Tbsp Honey Bee Healthy or 4 drops lemongrass essential oil (added to syrup)
Wax Paper
To begin, mix up a fresh batch of 1:1 sugar syrup, adding in the Honey Bee Healthy or lemongrass essential oil and mixing well.
In a separate bucket or bowel, add the dry pollen substitute first, then slowly mix in the sugar syrup, making a sticky batter.
Place a large spoonful of the pollen patty batter on a piece of wax paper, then place another piece of wax paper on top.
Press down or roll the pollen patty to approximately 1/4″ thickness.
Place the pollen patty (wax paper included) in a freezer bag or storage container and place in the freezer for future use.
When ready to use, simply take a patty out of the freezer, pull one piece of the wax paper off, and place in the hive.
