Have you been thinking about becoming a beekeeper but not sure how to get started? Or perhaps just interested in everything that is involved with local honey production?
The Gasconade County Region Beekeepers are hosting an all-day workshop going over all of the basics to get you better informed on what it takes to become a beekeeper!
We will be covering the following topics:
- Types of Bees & Bee Lifecycle
- Equipment
- Hive Site Selection
- Obtaining Bees
- Managing Bees and How to Inspect a Hive
- Bee Diseases and Pests
- Beekeeper Goals
A light lunch provided by Gerald Cafe is also included with your registration!
We will also be giving away some attendance prizes! One lucky attendee will receive a beginner beekeeping toolkit!

This class will be entirely indoors with plenty of examples, equipment to see, and videos. For those interested in pursuing beekeeping further, a demonstration day will be scheduled later in the spring at one of our club members’ apiaries.
Kids 10 and under are FREE, but must have an adult present.
